YVETTE DURAZO, MA, ACC, is the principal consultant of Unitive Consulting, a workplace talent development, strategic conflict management, and leadership coaching firm. She brings innovative techniques to promote a positive workplace culture in organizations to foster trust, increase human capital engagement, productivity, and inclusion. Her consulting services include training in people skills, mediation services, developing dispute system design in organizations, and strategies to address diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. Previous positions include teaching alternative dispute resolution, mediation, and communication at National University, serving as the Alternative Dispute Resolution program administrator for the Alameda County Superior Court of California, and most recently, as an organizational effectiveness and conflict specialist for the Santa Clara County Equal Opportunity Department. Durazo holds an Associate Certified Coach credential from the International Coach Federation, a Master's Degree in Negotiation, Conflict Resolution, and Peace Building from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and an undergraduate degree in International Business from San Diego State University. She is certified as a program manager, mediator, restorative justice facilitator, and nonviolent communication specialist. Durazo is bilingual in Spanish.

Being the youngest of 7 children, she has been a negotiator and mediator from the cradle. As a first-generation Hispanic university graduate and single mother attaining an advanced degree, Yvette knows what it takes to overcome challenges. Yvette's problem-solving skills and passion for peaceful conflict engagement led her to embark on a self-discovery and professional growth journey. After 20 years of professional experience working for public and private sectors, along with a unique academic background, Yvette has mastered key methodologies and techniques in the field of human relationships.

 

About Yvette's background

 

Yvette is an Adjunct Professor for the University of California, Santa Cruz Silicon Valley Extension for the Human Resource Management Certification Program and former Adjunct Professor for National University and the School General Council of the Judiciary in the State of Guanajuato, Mexico. There she teaches online and in-person courses in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), Human Resource Management Courses, Communication & Conflict Management, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Ethics, Neutrality, Conciliation, and Mediation.  She has worked alongside boards of directors, corporate representatives, political representatives, students, and educators.  She is the former ADR Program Administrator for the Superior Court of California, Alameda County, Executive Committee Member at the Alameda County Bar Association ADR Section, tri-chair for the Wellness Section for the Association of Conflict Resolution (ACR).

 

Her upbringing on the United States & Mexico border has given her a great cultural awareness that serves her when working with businesses that have diverse representation. She draws empathy, intuition, and wisdom from her life and works experiences to work with her clients. Yvette links business outcomes to leadership development, resulting in meaningful and effective changes for both her clients and their organizations.
